The Crafty Me Is DYING to create....Man she is one Pushy Broad!

When my lovees were little and I subsisted off of welfare as my sole income for a short time, I created flower arrangements, wall hangings really, for extra money. I also made magnets and other crafts which my sister would take to work and sell for me. I made extra money that came in handy for necessities back then. Later I walked into Madera Flower Shop and secured a job as a trainee, half of my wages were to be paid by the Job Training Partnership Act for one year. I learned from the ground up and basically made simple arrangements, learned how to run a flower shop. Learning from one of the best local business women in town, Mrs. Marilyn Whibbenhorst. I luckily had a lot of natural talent that allowed me to go back to work there years later, this time I became a junior designer. Flowers made me happy, working with them was something I looked forward to everyday. I was making someone happy, no matter if the occasion was sad or happy. It was working at this time that I got the idea into my head that I would have my own business one day. I wanted to have a flower shop of my own. I have not gotten there yet but don't count me out. One day I will have that shop of mine. Since I left the floral design business for a job that is boring and monotonous I have not had a creative outlet.  I love creating beautiful things and have a laundry list of projects not started or finished so this blog is going to allow me to share with you those projects that I vow to finish! I also am taking a serious venture into the Etsy community with some of my projects and I hope once I have items listed you will visit it. More of that in the next few weeks, for now I thought I would create a blog that shows the softer side of me.

my laundry list....

I think I get the love of creating things from both of my parents. My mother was a seamstress who taught me how to make my own patterns she also crocheted and loved to decorate. My father was not only a mechanical welder but also an ornamental welder, and he loved restoring cars. My brother is a graphic designer, my sister is artistic in her own right.
As for me I am drawn to so many mediums that I don't focus on just one and that has been my doom for the last few years. It is tough being a Renaissance Woman. My crafting and creating has had starts and stops and long droughts in between. Not being financially stable was a big part of that reason. Now I am getting on solid ground and have been more stable in my living situation so I am having this big need to nest...to make my little doll house we recently moved into a couple of months ago a home. My first big project will be my vanity redo. I will post photos tomorrow of this great vanity and how I shabby chic it...step by step directions on how to make a stenciled and handwritten cushion or pillow for the seat, I hope that you will visit this blog of mine and try out some of my projects also. Most of my projects are handcrafted or upcycled items. Finding beauty in something others would overlook is a big passion of mine. Sharing beauty in the world only makes it a better place! Stay tuned!

this is the vanity before
